With the release of their critically acclaimed debut album, Apollo: Tribute to the Miles Davis QuintetThe Lucas Sader Project pays homage to one of the iconic bandleaders and groups in the history of music, trumpeter Miles Davis and his groundbreaking 1960’s Quintet.

22-year-old bandleader Lucas Sader has established himself as a drummer, composer, arranger, educator, and journalist. The group also features world-renowned trumpeter Derrick Gardner, alto/tenor saxophonist Paul Balcain, pianist Will Bonness, bassist Karl Kohut, and special guest Erin Propp on vocals.

The Lucas Sader Project returned to the TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival after their hit performance in last year’s festival. The group took the stage at Cinematheque (100 Arthur Street) on FridayJune 21st, at 10:30PM. This special event featured select works from the album, as well as brand new original compositions and arrangements written by Sader.


The Lucas Sader Project: "Onward"  - Friday, April 19th, 2013

Lucas Sader Music is thrilled to present The Lucas Sader Project’s next event. On Friday, April 19thLe Garage Café (166 Provencher Boulevard) hosted Onward, a very special evening of music in fulfillment of Lucas Sader's University of Manitoba Bachelor of Jazz Studies Degree. 8PM show time. FREE admission.

The group featured Lucas Sader on drums, along with Simon Christie on trumpet, Paul Balcain on alto/tenor saxophone, Paul De Gurse on piano, Karl Kohut on bass, and Erin Propp on vocals. They performed brand new original compositions and arrangements by Sader, along with works from The Lucas Sader Project's debut album, "Apollo: Tribute to the Miles Davis Quintet"

After the show, one of Winnipeg’s premier dance groups, SoulStation, performed for the rest of the night. Featuring Joanna MajokoJocelyn Goertzen, and LSP bassist Karl Kohut, SoulStation definitely kept everyone dancing all night long.

Lucas Sader Music presented The Lucas Sader ProjectNew Beginnings at Arkadash Bistro Lounge (268 Portage Avenue) in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on ThursdayJanuary 17th2013.

The group featured Lucas Sader on drums, Derrick Gardner on trumpet, Paul Balcain on alto and tenor saxophone, Carter Graham on piano, Karl Kohut on bass, and special guest Erin Propp on vocals.

They performed works from their debut album, "Apollo: Tribute to the Miles Davis Quintet", which was released this past November, along with brand new original compositions and arrangements by Lucas Sader.

The Lucas Sader Project: "Apollo" Album Release Show - Thursday, November 22nd, 2012

To celebrate the release of "Apollo: Tribute to the Miles Davis Quintet", The Lucas Sader Project performed at the West End Cultural Centre (586 Ellice Avenue) on Thursday, November 22nd.

The group will featured drummer/bandleader Lucas Sader, along with world-renowned trumpeter Derrick Gardner, alto and tenor saxophonist Paul Balcain, pianist Will Bonness, bassist Karl Kohut, and special guest Erin Propp on vocals. They played works from “Apollo: Tribute to the Miles Davis Quintet” as well as brand new compositions and arrangements by Sader. Comedian Reggie San Miguel hosted the evening.
