Ana Grace

Hello everyone,

First, I would just like to wish you and yours a happy, relaxing, and safe Holiday season. It’s hard to believe it is already December 23rd.

Today is a day of reflection. 9 days have passed since the incredibly tragic events that took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. As many of you know, among the victims of this tragedy was a beautiful, glowing 6 year old girl named Ana Grace Marquez-Greene. She, along with her family, lived in Winnipeg for over three years while her Dad, Jimmy Greene, was Assistant Professor of Jazz Saxophone in the University of Manitoba Jazz Studies Program. Jimmy is a mentor of mine who I look up to in every way, both on and off stage. In the days to come, please keep Jimmy, Nelba, Isaiah, and the rest of the Greene family, as well as the other families devastated by this tragedy, in your thoughts.

An official Facebook group has been set-up to remember Ana. Click here to check it out. A fund has also been set-up to support the Greene family as they navigate through the toughest of times. To check it out and make a donation, click here.

Lucas Sader Music is thrilled to announce The Lucas Sader Project’s next event, New Beginnings, which will take place on Thursday, January 17th, 2013, at Arkadash Bistro and Lounge (268 Portage Avenue) at 9:00pm.  The group will feature myself on drums, along with world-renowned trumpeter Derrick Gardner, alto/tenor saxophonist Paul Balcain, pianist Paul De Gurse, bassist Karl Kohut, and special guest Erin Propp on vocals.

We will perform works from our debut album, “Apollo: Tribute to the Miles Davis Quintet”, along with my own brand new original compositions and arrangements. Admission is $5 students, $10 general. Click here to learn more about the event.

Arkadash Bistro & Lounge is quickly becoming a Jazz hotspot in the heart of Winnipeg. Their menu features exquisite Mediterranean cuisine, all made using high-quality, local ingredients. To learn more about their exciting menu, check out their website by clicking here.
